Making fun of other Faiths

Question = i watched several of your videos in youtube.i admit they are hilarious and at the same time they provide messages.my questions go like this. is it okay for us to mock or make fun of other religion? shouldn't we just respect what they believe? is it okay for you if one christian mocking Islam the way that you did to them?

Answer = thank you for the question. i try not to mock. it is not appropriate for a Muslim to make fun of, or insult others. i try to make my videos entertaining and i don't feel that they are crossing the line

it is permissible to joke with friends as long as you are not taking away their honor or humiliating them

Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet, and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt (or insult) his neighbor; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should entertain his guest generously.

Allah's Apostle neither talked in an insulting manner nor did he ever speak evil intentionally. He used to say, "The most beloved to me amongst you is the one who has the best character and manners."...

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr:
The Prophet said, "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up.
1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays.
2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.
3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous.
4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner."

these hadeeths are clear. insulting is not allowed and it is even a Characteristic of a hypocrite. we should speak good or keep quiet.

as for people making fun of Islam

Surah 5:57 O ye who believe! take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,- whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye Allah, if ye have faith (indeed)
